The „self hug” is a wonderful and very simple exercise to give you a feeling of security within seconds. Because a hug releases oxytocin. And that immediately calms you down.

All you need to do

  1. Place one hand on your left shoulder and the other hand on your right shoulder or upper right arm
    (whatever feels more comfortable to you).
  2. Hug yourself tightly and cradle yourself gently.
  3. Let go of all tension with an exhale.

The trick: your brain doesn’t know who is hugging you. But the closeness feels good and makes you feel safe and secure.
